I have always loved airplanes and strong, empowering females and I wanted to do a piece to reflect this. Women have been making a different from behind the scenes for a long time, and I felt it was time to bring them forward and recognize them.

I researched each of the major was that the U.S. has experiences: WWI, WWII, Korean, and Vietnam. I found a female pilot from each who made a difference during the war. I featured females from different sides of the wars as well.

The full series appeared in Myers School of Art’s Student Scholarship show. Three appeared in the Myers Juried Show, and one appeared at Summit Artspace.
